Post-Treatment Care for Your Cosmetic Tattoo
Immediately After Treatment:
You may experience some soreness, swelling and minor bruising that typically lasts 1-2 days. The tattoo will darken as scabs begin to form.
Day 1:
Fluids from the tattoo will form scabs, so it's essential not to pick them off! You can ice the area to reduce tenderness.
Days 2-5:
Avoid touching the area with dirty hands and keep it dry to prevent premature scab removal. Don’t sleep on your face or use harsh products until the scabs naturally fall off. Apply the recommended ointment (sheer layer for eyes and brows, more frequently for lips) ONLY AFTER DAY 5!
Avoid UV exposure, sweating and treatments like Botox or facials for four weeks. Basically treat the tatoo as a wound.
After Scabbing:
Once the scabs fall off, the tattoo may appear milky or gray as deeper layers continue healing. Full healing takes six weeks followed by a touchup procedure if one is needed. (Plus your artist wants to see you for a check up:). The final colour will reveal itself at this point.
Long-Term Care
To maintain your tattoo's longevity, avoid products like Retinol, Vitamin C, or Glycolic acid on the area. Wear sunscreen and be cautious with chlorine and saltwater. Touch-ups may be necessary every 1-3 years, especially if you have oily skin or other factors that affect pigment retention.
Note: Results vary by individual and may require more than one session to achieve the desired outcome.
